Ff14 Duty Roulette Mentor

Square Enix has recently revealed more information regarding the new Mentor System that will be introduced in 'Final Fantasy XIV's' Gears of Change (Patch 3.2) update. The update will roll out on Tuesday, Feb. 23.

Naoki Yoshida, producer and director of 'Final Fantasy XIV,' shared the details of the new Mentor System in an exclusive interview that was published at Sony's PlayStation Blog.

Yoshida explains that the Mentor System serves a dual purpose. First, it will provide an avenue for veteran players to help new players with less than 40 hours of gameplay progress in the game. Second, it aims to enhance the player community through the bonds formed by veteran and new players.

To be a mentor, players need to be level 60 in tank, healer, and DPS roles; complete a total of more than 1,000 dungeons and trials; and receive at least 300 commendations. To be a crafting mentor, players need to be level 60 in both crafting and gathering class, crafted more than 100 collectables, and gathered 300 collectables.

Mentors can either use a special chat channel or a special duty roulette to perform their duties. Through the chat channel Novice Network, new players can ask questions for mentors to answer. Meanwhile, the Duty Roulette: Mentor will match them with a new player. A mentor can also team up with a new player to form a party through which both players will receive experience point bonus.

  • After registering for Duty Roulette: Mentor, your online status will be automatically changed to 'Mentor' if you are eligible for that status, otherwise it will be changed to 'PvE Mentor'. Players will obtain the 2-seater Astrope mount after completing 2,000 Mentor Roulettes.
  • Introduction Duty Roulette is a feature for the Duty Finder first introduced in the patch 2.1. Duty Roulette allows the player to participate in randomized duties. Since patch 2.1, various additional roulette modes have been added or changed to reflect the changing state of the game. Duty Roulette is divided into several categories: Expert, Level 80 Dungeons, Level 50/60/70, Leveling, Trials.

Unfortunately, the Astrope is rare for a reason. You must be a mentor and complete a whooping 2,000 duties through the Mentor Duty Roulette, but this amazing mount is totally worth the grinding. Check out Astrope in action. The Skyslipper has room for one driver and three passangers.

Speaking of rewards, Yoshida reveals these will be minor so as to discourage experienced players from becoming a mentor for the sake of rewards. For instance, mentors can receive special achievements and titles by using the special roulette.

In addition to the new Mentor System, Yoshida also shared another way by which new players will be able to learn how to play the game. In the Hall of the Novice, new players can train and learn the game systems before entering their first dungeon. The Hall of the Novice will be available to level 15 players.
